Behind the name: Hello Hydrangea

Every summer, right around the end of June, Cape Cod bursts into the color of hydrangeas. You’ll find them tucked behind picket fences, lining garden beds, and adding dreamy pops of color around every corner. They’re more than just flowers here—they’re a season.

The moment we laid eyes on this shade, we knew it had to be part of our collection. It was one of our original 18 colors, first drafted as “Hi Hydrangea,” a flirty nod to that familiar summer scene. As our color line developed, it didn’t feel quite right (we’re all about the details!). We wanted to keep the playful tone to match the color but elevate it just enough to reflect the poise of Cape Cod’s most iconic bloom. Hello Hydrangea was the perfect fit.

If you’ve ever visited Cape Cod in July, you may have stumbled upon Cape Cod Hydrangea Fest, a 10-day celebration of private garden tours, local fundraisers, and serious hydrangea appreciation. The festival has become a beloved tradition, drawing flower lovers from near and far to explore the art and science of hydrangea care while supporting dozens of local nonprofits. It’s uniquely Cape Cod and completely in bloom with everything we love: nature, community, and good color.

Did you know? The color of hydrangeas can actually change depending on the pH of the soil. More acidic soil turns them blue, while alkaline soil brings out pink and purple tones. It’s like nature’s own mood polish.

So whether you’re planting roots or just passing through, Hello Hydrangea is our love letter to summer’s most iconic flower and the Cape Cod memories that come with it.

We hope you love this shade as much as we do. Whether it inspires you to stroll through a Hydrangea Fest garden or plant a few blooms in your own yard, we’re here for it. We’d love to see where it takes you. Share your photos wearing Hello Hydrangea - tell us your favorite Cape Cod hydrangea memory or your favorite place to see these stunning flowers in all their glory!
